Culture Walk

Discover the cultural heart of Kyoto on a special “culture walk” through the Okazaki area, featuring Japanese gardens, cuisine, traditional performing arts, and fine art.
Each tour lasts approximately 2 to 5 hours and includes a curated selection of cultural sites. (Exact timing and itinerary may vary by program.)
As part of Japanese Culture Walk in Kyoto Okazaki 2025, five exclusive programs will be offered—each designed by leading cultural institutions in Kyoto for this limited-time event.

Murin-an – View a Japanese garden and traditional dances performed by maiko apprentice geisha ~
Hyotei – Delectable Kyoto cuisine for lunch
Murin-an is best known for its Japanese garden. This experience includes a guided walk through the garden, followed by a traditional maiko dance performance viewed from a room overlooking the grounds. It’s a rare opportunity to step into the refined world of old Kyoto and enjoy a moment of quiet elegance.

Kyoto Kanze Kaikan – Experience a Kanze-style Noh play

Kyoto Kanze Noh Theater is the main stage of the Kanze school of Noh, one of Japan’s most prestigious Noh traditions based in Kyoto. Participants will enjoy a performance and introduction to Noh by the Katayama family, a leading Noh lineage in Kyoto. The experience also includes the opportunity to try Noh instruments and movements firsthand.

The Hosomi Museum – Enjoy an after-hours tour and concert
The Hosomi Museum is home to a remarkable collection that covers nearly every period and genre of Japanese art. This special after-hours event includes a guided tour, followed by a classical music concert with drinks and light refreshments in the museum’s open, atrium-style café.
